Bright Horizon Counseling began serving the central Pennsylvania community in the spring of 2008, after Suzanne Burton decided to establish a private practice.

Suzanne has a passion for helping people and enjoys working with individuals. Recognizing that each person is unique – each story different – she is committed to meeting people where they are. Her empathetic approach to counseling coupled with a gentle spirit makes clients feel comfortable while exploring their personal struggles. Suzanne utilizes techniques and concepts found in Cognitive Behavioral Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Client Centered Therapy.

She received her master’s degree from the Liberty University, an accredited institution. Her standing as a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Clinical Trauma Counselor (CCTP) ensures you will receive a therapist grounded in the fundamentals of counseling. Having earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Liberty University further enhances her knowledge of the intricacies of human development. Her extensive education combined with her broad range of practical experience, guarantees that clients will benefit from having a counselor who is committed to the therapeutic relationship.

Suzanne has provided counseling services to the community since 2000. She values the relationship formed in the counseling dynamic. She believes it is the primary pathway towards healing. One needs to feel safe and valued in order to be open and vulnerable. Suzanne provides such an environment as she listens empathetically to your story, your needs, and your feelings.

Her non-judgmental, gentle approach assists people in feeling comfortable while sharing information and experiences from their lives. Her developmental background helps individuals explore how their past could be impacting their present. Her intuitive nature allows her to pick up on important pieces of information, which enable personal growth.
